When and how did you get into creating art?
I have been in the creative industry now for nearly 20 years. I completed a 4-year honours degree in Computer Graphic Design, which developed into a path of freelance/full-time work on anything from live sports broadcasts, to videogames, television, and advertising. I always found these things never quite satisfied the 'creative itch' though, so spent many evenings (outside of work) developing my own personal projects and learning new software.
When did that shift to NFT art?
The NFT thing (for me) caught me by surprise. The idea of being able to create my own personal projects and actually earn an income from this was always a pipe dream. I started to see a growing number of artists I admired experimenting with NFTs and began to research what platforms existed. Hic et Nunc had an immediate appeal to me - the community seemed incredibly positive and supportive, and (honestly) the price-point for artworks was more accessible to me than some of the other sites. I just happened to take the plunge during the first #OBJKT4OBJKT weekend, and had a great time! From then on I was hooked.
What do you hope to achieve with your artworks?
Having fun has always been the core component of my artwork. I work in a job where most of my projects are directed by 'what the client wants', so this affords me creative freedom outside of those constraints. I see art as a way to channel emotion, humour, skill, and feeling into any number of mediums, and evoke some kind of response from the viewer. I'm also constantly working to improve my skills, so these works allow me to keep trying out new techniques and ideas.
What are your future plans in terms of art and NFTs?
I don't think anyone can accurately predict where NFTs are heading, other than knowing that there is some huge potential in this space. I'll continue building on my profile of work, as well as developing an engaging and positive community around my pieces. I have some long-term projects that are slowly taking shape, and can't wait to share them with everyone.
